Why Singapore?
The cleaning and janitorial industry in Asia is expected to grow 12% over the
next 5 years. In Singapore alone, it is worth a whopping S$300
million and this figure as projected by the Ministry of Manpower is
expected to grow by another 27% in tandem with a construction
boost. The total value of construction contracts awarded last year reached $11.3
billion, exceeding the demand of $10 billion in the previous two years. For 2006,
construction contracts awarded are expected to range between $12 billion and
$13.5 billion.
The construction of major projects, including the Business Financial Centre,
Integrated Resorts (IRs) and the rejuvenation of Orchard Road in the pipeline,
coupled with the sustained economic recovery, the various sectors of the property
market finally showed signs of improvement. The improved market feeling has helped
to strengthen the demand for construction, in turn translating into increased
demands for rising levels of facilities services, cleaning services, technologies
and techniques.
The series of unfortunate disasters in Asia: SARs, dengue, tsunami, and more
recently avian flu, poses even more challenges to the cleaning industry.
Add to that government efforts to raise skills and performance standards, and
professionalism, a growing economy with boosts in consumption, a bustling retail
sector, and post crisis reconstruction and Pulire-Asia is poised to leverage
upon the opportunities for new technologies and solutions for the cleaning industry.
Singapore in general and Suntec in particular is ideal as a venue for Pulire
Asia. Apart from its strategic location in the cross-roads of Asia, its international
appeal as a business hub is also facilitated by an excellent infrastructure of
industrial, commercial and intellectual support, not to mention robust economic
growth and socio, political and economic stability. |
