Programme Day 1 – 6 February 2007
10:30-12:00 Quality
Assurance and Management in Cleaning Service Provision
The speaker will share his knowledge on the various aspects of quality
assurance and the training and management of cleaning staff. This
session will focus on three areas of quality assurance:
1. Setting up the company to deliver quality - (new ISSA standard)
2. Training staff to deliver quality.(accreditted qualifications,
BICSc)
3. Auditing for quality (European standard)
Speaker: Mike Sweeney, Fellow/Moderator – British
Institute of Cleaning Science
From a start as a part time office cleaner some forty four years
ago, Mike Sweeney has held a number of senior management positions
in the cleaning industry in both the service provision and manufacturing/supply
sectors. He has a long association with the British Institute
of Cleaning Science and has been a Fellow since 1983.
He was appointed as Chief Executive
of BICSc in February 1998 and led the successful development of the
Institute’s membership and educational sectors, both in the
UK and overseas, until his retirement to his native Ireland in early
2005. He is now a consultant to the cleaning industry and continues
to act as a Moderator for the Institute’s world-renowned range
of qualifications.
14:30-16:30 Food
Hygiene Practices and Food Safety
This session will focus on the various aspects of food hygiene practices
in a commercial or hospitality establishment. The speaker will share
insights on the proper implementation of a food hygiene programme,
HACCP, hygiene auditing and other important areas of food hygiene
and safety.
Speaker: Serban Teodoresco, Managing Director, SafeKey
Group, JohnsonDiversey Group of Companies
Serban Teodoresco began his career in the food industry as Product
Manager for Alfa-Laval Canada in 1982. His responsibilities included
the development of new markets in the area of Processed Food and Aseptic
technology. Four years later, he moved to a newly created consultancy
group called the Ontario Food Technology Centre. The goal of this
group was to improve the productivity, quality and safety of foods
produced in Ontario, Canada to be competitive in the new NAFTA environment.
In 1989 he joined Diversey, part
of the Molson Group. From 1993 to 1996 he was Regional Director -
Food, Southern Europe (Spain, France, Italy and Portugal). In 1997,
he became Global Innovation Leader, responsible for the creation and
launch of the Food Safety Consulting Group. From 1999 to 2000 he was
VP Operations and since 2001, he is Managing Director of SafeKey Group.
SafeKey Group is the Service and
Consulting Group of JohnsonDiversey. Established in 1999, it provides
professional services, consulting and solutions in the area of Food
Safety, Quality and Risk Management.
Programme Day 2 – 7 February 2007
10:00 – 12:00 Hospital
Cleaning: Management and Practices
The speaker will focus on the various practices, implementation,
methodologies, management and evaluation of a cleaning programme for
healthcare facilities. Topics to be covered include infection control
and prevention, safety auditing, staff training, quality assurance,
risk management and management practices.
Speaker: Judith West, Director – British Cleaning
Council
In June 2005, Judith was elected Chairman, for a two-year term, of
the British Cleaning Council, which works closely with 18 other members
who are directly involved in the cleaning industry.
She is also the Immediate Past Chairman
and a council member of BICSc, a member of the Guild of Environmental
Cleaners, an Associate Member of C.S.S.A. (Cleaning Support Services
Association) and a member of A.D.M. (Association of Domestic Managers)
dealing with Hospitals and National Health Service.
She has 30-plus years of experience
in management, training and auditing of cleaning companies and support
services. In 2000, she set up Cranbrook Consultants, a company dealing
with training, health & safety issues for a variety of clients
including healthcare providers and large-scale commercial cleaning
companies.
14:30 – 16:30 Stone
Care and Maintenance
This session will focus on the care and maintenance of stone surfaces.
The speaker will focus on identifying the right solutions for the
various types of stone, identification of various stains, proper methodologies
of cleaning various stone surfaces as well as provide a frame of reference
for the various methods in stone maintenance.
Speaker: Vincent Lim, Senior Consultant, Otares
Pte Ltd
Vincent Lim has been involved in the cleaning industry for over 30
years as a service provider, managing partner, trainer and consultant.
He has extensive experience and know-how in the maintenance, restoration
and properties of various stone surfaces.
He has been a trainer for various
stone care and maintenance programme for close to 20 years, both for
in-house departments as well as public-run courses throughout the
Asia-Pacific and Middle East. He currently runs Otares Pte Ltd, a
training and consultancy firm for the cleaning industry.
He was inducted as a Fellow at the
British Institute of Cleaning Science
in 1995 for distinguished
service to the Institute and the
cleaning industry in general. |
